Expansion and International Missions
(1990s–2000s)
- In 1993, CMFI sent its first international missionary couple to the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking the beginning of its global missionary enterprise.
- By the early 2000s, CMFI had expanded to North America, planting churches in the USA and Canada.
- The ministry also grew in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, with missionaries sent from Cameroon and other African nations.
Organizational Growth and Ministries
CMFI developed a robust internal structure to support its mission:
- Publishing Department: Produced over 150 books authored by Prof. Fomum and millions of gospel tracts in multiple languages.
- Bible Schools and Training Centers: Established to train missionaries and church leaders.
- Media and Music Ministries: Included radio broadcasts, music production, and online evangelism.
- Prayer and Fasting Ministry: CMFI became known for its intense focus on prayer, with over 250 fasts and 57 prayer crusades led by Prof. Fomum.
Leadership Transition and Continued Growth (2009–Present)
- Prof. Zacharias Fomum passed away in March 2009, leaving behind a thriving global movement.
- Leadership transitioned to Prof. Joseph T. Mbafor, who continues to lead CMFI and Associated Churches with the same vision.
- CMFI now operates in over 65 nations across all continents, with:
- Over 1,300 churches in Cameroon
- More than 200 international missionaries
- A goal to reach 10 billion people with the gospel and establish 25 million house churches.

CMFI’s long-term vision includes:
- Reaching 250 nations with the gospel before the Lord’s return.
- Making 1 billion disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Establishing 25 million house churches worldwide.
- Using every available medium—books, tracts, radio, TV, internet—to spread the gospel urgently and effectively.
Legacy of Prof. Zacharias Fomum
- A scientist, pastor, and author, Prof. Fomum held a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) from Durham University.
- He authored over 150 Christian books, many of which are still widely read and translated.
- He led over 1,200 missionary journeys, including 700 within Cameroon and 500 to over 70 nations.
- His life was marked by radical prayer, fasting, and evangelism, with over 10,000 recorded healing miracles attributed to his ministry.
