Christian Missionary Fellowship International

Founding and Early Years
(1975–1989)

Founded in May 1975 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI) began as a house church movement under the leadership of Prof. Zacharias Tanee Fomum, a professor of organic chemistry and a deeply committed Christian evangelist.

The early vision was to take the message of God’s saving love to the people of Cameroon and beyond.

CMFI emphasized prayer, fasting, godliness, and holy lifestyle (consecration), Christian discipleship, and church planting from the outset.

The movement quickly spread across Cameroon, establishing churches in major towns and rural areas.
